The Houston Teachers Institute, until November 2009 a partnership between the Houston Independent School District and the University of Houston and a member of the League of Teachers Institutes, was dedicated to strengthening teachers and teaching in Houston's public schools. HTI offered seminars led by UH faculty for public school teachers on academic subjects teachers themselves request.
