INVINCIBILITY, OR, JUST BELIEVING IN YOURSELF: USING MULTICULTURAL DRAMA IN A SPECIAL EDUCATION CLASSROOM GUIDE
Bertrina McDaniel

Return

Through the lives of real people and fictional characters, this unit will give the students a multicultural collection of images of those who have had to depend on their inner strengths, beliefs and deepest desires to withstand and overcome obstacles in their lives in order to be content with their own success. Using the drama to catalogue conflicts and solutions, the students will break personal shackles as they view and begin to internalize the importance of believing in themselves. As self-confidence and self-worth grow, a new way of thinking and operating is ultimately produced in a transformed student.
