My unit is about the process that a house experiences to make the way from a cold, dull house, to a warm, comfortable, familiar house: a home. I begin reflecting about the need of shelter, and the importance of a home in the life of a human being. I think that home and school can make together a bridge that links the experiences from both important worlds for children. I start comparing my own feelings from my childhood till now, and talking about my professional experiences along thirty-three years as an educator. I make a little analysis of my actual school, my work as a bilingual teacher, and the problems and difficulties that migrant people suffer before being integrated in the society as full members. I also explain my reasons for coming to teach to United States of America, and I tell how do I plan to teach this unit.
