BRIDGES AND NATURAL FORCES GUIDE
Vladimir B. Silva, Jane Long Middle School

Return

As an educator, I have realized the importance and the need to teach a subject that relates math with something meaningful to all the students. This curriculum unit addresses the impact of natural forces on the design and construction of bridges. This is a cross-curriculum unit primarily focusing on math and science applications, students will have the opportunity to learn and discover the bridges (design and construction) and the natural forces that affect bridges structures. These natural forces include gravity (weight of structure and objects), soil conditions, temperature effects, earthquakes, as well as wind and vibrations.
