This unit describes how to use Shakespeare’s Macbeth with middle-school English Language Learners to help them recognize the importance of “artistic vision,” as well as giving them an opportunity to create their own. Most students, regardless of their level of English proficiency, have trouble with Shakespeare. But English Language Learners have difficulty following Shakespeare the same way someone would if they were listening to a radio broadcast of a baseball game and knew nothing about baseball.
