A PORTRAIT OF AFRICAN AMERICAN PHOTOGRAPHY: THROUGH THE EYES OF GORDON PARKS GUIDE
Debra A. Fisher, Daniel Ortiz Middle School

Return

By the end of this teaching unit on "A portrait of African American Photography: Through the Eyes of Gordon Park Sr.," students should have completed the following: An Online Biography, Research other Notable African American Photographer during the 19th & 20th centuries, viewing of images, readings of poetry and novels, films. I hope my students enjoy the readings and the travels to Kansas.

My only regret is that my students did not get an opportunity to meet Gordon Parks Sr. who was a great pioneer in photography.

Perhaps through his images, memoirs, and writings, we can feel the presence of a man who made a difference in life. Most of all, I hope the experience touched them in such a way that they will make a difference and become achievers for a lifetime.
